Red Bookcase and Welcome Home
The Red Bookcase
Each child moving into a Habitat home beginning in 2013 will receive a small two-shelf red bookcase along with a minimum of six age appropriate books. Each bookcase will have the child's name inscribed on a nameplate. The red bookcases are being built by Habitat volunteers.
To get information on current project needs, please contact Carol Havens, Volunteer Project Manager, at (812) 453-8654.
Update: Habitat is not currently seeking book donations at this time. Thanks to the generosity of the community, we have a substantial amount of books already in stock for the children of Habitat partner families.
New Habitat homeowners are in need of basic home essentials as they begin their journey as an official homeowner through Habitat. You can assist in these efforts by donating a range of home essential items. Purchases may include: towels, wash cloths, shower curtains, bath & kitchen rugs, dish towels, bed linens, dishes, pots and pans, flatware, glasses, basic cooking utensils, broom, mop, bucket, or vacuum cleaner.
How You Can Help:
* Be a partner family sponsor at $600
* Make a cash donation in any amount
* Donate gift cards from area retailers who carry home-goods products
* Purchase items off our "Registry" as the following retailers: Target, Wal-Mart, Kohl's, Bed Bath & Beyond
Our program is registered as: First Name: Habitat Last Name: Home
Gift Cards and Kohl's Bucks - These items can be donated at the Habitat Office for the Welcome Home Project.
