Donor-Advised Funds

Give Through Your Donor-Advised Fund

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) provide a flexible, tax-savvy method of giving that helps to build the quality of life, health and prosperity in our community through homeownership which supports the belief that everyone should have a safe, decent and affordable place to live.  An increasingly popular charitable vehicle, donor-advised funds can be established with a number of entities, including community foundations and financial services companies.

There are many benefits to setting up a donor-advised fund including maximizing tax benefits and being able to contribute immediately (at the height of one’s earning power) and later build a philanthropic strategy, recommending grants when ready.  In a donor-advised fund, charitable assets may grow over time, making more charitable dollars available to organizations like Habitat.

How To Give with a Donor-Advised Fund

You can recommend your donor-advised fund to make a gift on your behalf — even during a multi-year time frame — provided the commitment comes from the fund itself.

You can also establish a memorial fund in honor of someone through a donor-advised fund.  It could be a new fund altogether, or granting in memoriam out of an existing fund.

Contact your gift advisor to start the giving process.  The information you’ll need is:

Habitat for Humanity of Evansville
560 E. Diamond Avenue
Evansville, IN 47711
EIN (Tax ID#): 35-1602775

Payments from donor-advised funds may not be used towards event registrations or other payments which return tangible benefits.  Please check with your fund advisor for additional information on IRS restrictions on gifts from a donor-advised fund.

Give Through Naming Habitat the Beneficiary

Not everyone wants to commit to making a gift in their wills or estates. Some prefer the increased flexibility that a beneficiary designation provides.  It is very simple to name Habitat for Humanity of Evansville as a beneficiary of your IRA, your life insurance policy, certificates of deposit, savings bonds or other assets. Start by requesting a change-of-beneficiary form from your policy administrator. Make your desired changes and return the form to establish your gift.

Please let us know if you have named Habitat as the beneficiary of any of your assets so we can thank you and welcome you to the Perigo-Prickett Society.
